Zakharchuk Oleksii (Oleksa) - (1929-2013) - a famous Ukrainian painter, master of landscape painting and graphic artist. Born in Illintsi, Vinnytsia region. During World War II he took part in guerrilla movement in Vinnytsia region (1943-1944). He studied at the Kharkiv Art School (1945-1950); Kyiv Art Institute (1950-1957) T. Yablonska and S. Hryhoriev. Participant of numerous republican, union and international exhibitions (1949). Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine (1966). He signed a letter in defense of Vyacheslav Chornovil, Hinsburg and Halanskyi (1968), for which he has suffered harassment. Winner of the art prize "Kyiv" in the genre of landscape painting (2002). Honored Artist of Ukraine (2005). He lived and worked in Kyiv.
