Popov Valentin Nikolayevich (born 1956) is an artist-graphic artist. Graduated from the Republican Artistic High School. T. Shevchenko (1974), and later the Faculty of Graphics and Book Illustration of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts (now the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture) (1980). Since 1990 he has been permanently residing in the USA (San Francisco, CA). Studied at the University of California at Berkeley and the San Francisco Art Institute (1990-1991). The artist has a deeply individual handwriting, he has a thorough knowledge of various technical means of graphic arts. At the same time, he is a master of painting, engraving, collage, photography, sculpture, and installation. Draw on aluminum using a brush as a cutter. The artist intuitively envisages social processes, finding sensitive channels for the reflection of their ideas and experiences, visualizing their own reflections, research, reflections on national identity and individual awareness of their social role. He has over 70 personal exhibitions in Ukraine, Russia, Italy, Japan, Germany, Lithuania, Hungary, USA. Valentine Popov's works are kept in public collections of US artistic museums - Metropolitan (New York), Zimmerli (New Jersey), De Saisset (Santa Clara), Museums of Russian-American Alaska History (Grid), Aachenbach Arts Arts Foundation Francisco), the New York Public Library. Awards: Silver Medal of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1988), Grant of the Association of Fine Arts of the USSR (1984-1986), Grant from the Academy of Arts of the USSR.
