Biography of the author
                                    
                                                                                    Serhii Vasylkivskyi (1854-1917) was a painter. Born in Izyum, Kharkiv Region. He studied at the Art School of D. Bezperchyi and M. Ranevska-Ivanova in Kharkiv. He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under M. Klodt and V. Orlovskyi (from 1876). Received a large gold medal and the title of class artist of the 1st degree (1885). Pensioner of Art Academy in England, Spain, Germany and Italy (1886-1888). Lived and worked in Kharkiv (since 1888). He created a number of lyrical landscapes of Ukraine. The author of paintings on historical and genre themes.
