Khmeliuk Vasyl (1903-1986) - Ukrainian postimpressionist painter and poet. Born in Berezivka, Vinnitsa region. He studied at the Krakow Academy of Arts (1921-1923); Charles University (1926-1927); Ukrainian Studio of Plastic Arts in Prague (1928) in Class C. Mako. He was a member of the Association of Independent Ukrainian Artists. He lived in Paris (1928), where became one of the central figures in the artistic life of the French capital. He had a solo exhibition at the gallery "Young Europe" in Paris (1932). Works of the artist are kept in museums in London, Paris, New York, Philadelphia, Munich, Toronto, Stockholm, Lviv, Lucerne, Oxford University in the gallery and private collections. He was not only an artist but also a poet. Khmeliuk published three collections of poetry: "Hin" (1926), "1926, 1928, 1923" (1927) and "Autumn Sun" (1928). Artworks by Khmeliuk present flowers, still lifes, landscapes, portraits in bright contrasting colors.
